There, he discovers a series of illegal mixed martial arts matches dominated by inmate Yuri Boyka. Some years after fighting Monroe "Undisputed" Hutchens in prison, former boxing champion George "Iceman" Chambers visits the Russian Federation for a series of boxing matches, where he is subsequently framed for possession of cocaine and once again sent to prison. I was mostly bored by "Undisputed II", and I expect I'll forget about it pretty quickly. Michael Jai White doesn't do much that impresses. Adkins is the stand out, with his extraordinary agility for such a muscled body. These scenes aren't all that impressive, to be honest.

The movie tries to tie it all up at the end, and I didn't even try to follow it. There is some rubbish about George "The Iceman" Chambers, now played by Michael Jai White, being framed in Russia for drug possession and then being forced to fight a Russian bad guy, played by the normally English Scott Adkins. "Undisputed II" unfortunately does not proceed in kind. One thing that the original "Undisputed" had going for it was a lack of obtrusive plotting blocking the action. I was pretty underwhelmed by "Undisputed II". Being that I am about to watch the third and fourth movie, I certainly hope that this is not the case. There are some who hold that this first sequel to Walter Hill's 2002 pic "Undisputed" is the best of the whole four film series. Overall, "Undisputed II" is worth seeing for the fights and White's performance.
I understand why they did that, but some of the grittiness is lost. Ben Cross is on hand as another prisoner. You root for him to get knocked out every second. White is a good replacement for Ving Rhames from the first. All the fights are well-choreographed and exciting. There are actually two fights between them though. It's a simple plot, but with a lot of setup towards the big fight. The only way to live.is to fight the reigning champion Boyka (Adkins).

But the twist is that he's in a Russian jail chock full of stereotypes. The plot: Heavy-weight boxing champion George "The Iceman" Chambers (White) is once again thrown in prison after being framed. "Undisputed II" is an improvement over the original. Having said that, in the end, U2 was a solid follow up to "Undisputed." I wouldn't say I like the sequel better because all things being equal I'll always favor the original. Eventually, Chambers would emerge as the more sympathetic character and someone to clearly root for. My thoughts about the movie for the first two thirds were, "Why do I care if either of these guys win?" Boyka and Chambers were both contemptible with Boyka being slightly more loathsome because he liked to injure his sparring partners (what kind of sense does that make?). Though he protested, Chambers would have to fight to earn his freedom, and no one is so tough that they'd remain in a Russian prison just to stick it to the man. Yuri Boyka was running through opponents and it was costing the mobster a lot of money. A Russian mobster was behind the set up as he needed a proper opponent for the Russian fight king Yuri Boyka (Scott Adkins). The entire set up was pretty ham-fisted, but that's what they went with to get him in a Russian prison. Chambers was in Russia to promote some alcohol when he got set up on drug possession charges. In the sequel we get a more sculpted Michael Jai White as George Chambers and he's the protagonist.

In the original movie Ving Rhames plays the antagonist a cocky professional boxer named George "Iceman" Chambers.
"Undisputed 2" is a sequel to "Undisputed" starring Wesley Snipes and Ving Rhames. It's amazing what Adkins does with his role here - his introduction in the ring alone had my eyes popping out of my head - and he would carry on the story with a further two sequels in which he would become the redemptive protagonist. Jai White is okay as the hero, although his character is perhaps a bit too hard to be very sympathetic, but then-newcomer Scott Adkins is the stand-out as his opponent, the Russian beast Boyka. They're fantastic, to put it simply, and they help to lift what is otherwise an average plot and storyline into something special. The emphasis is on staging a series of brutal fight scenes both inside and outside of the ring, and they feature violent hits and extreme choreography. It's still about martial arts tournaments in a Russian prison, but otherwise it's all change. Gone are that film's cast, with Michael Jai White playing the hulking hero and taking over from Ving Rhames who played the same character in the first. The second of the UNDISPUTED franchise, LAST MAN STANDING sees B-movie action specialist Isaac Florentine taking over from Walter Hill for what is a very different beast to the first.
